Haskell joined nine other influential women in Connecticut who were recognized at the 23rd Annual Induction Ceremony & Celebration on Nov. 2. The 2016 honoree group includes women from diverse professional backgrounds, ranging from athletes to journalists to health advocates. Jane Pauley, Rebecca Lobo, and Dr. Joyce Yerwood were also inducted.

Haskell was recognized for her leadership in promoting health care for female veterans.

In addition to her role at Yale School of Medicine, Haskell is deputy chief consultant for clinical operations and national director of comprehensive women’s health for the Veterans Health Administration. In this position she directs policy and implementation for Comprehensive Women’s Health nationally. Prior to her national role, Haskell was the director of the Women’s Health Program at VA Connecticut, where she developed one of the VA’s  early Comprehensive Women’s Clinics. Additionally, Haskell is the director of the VA Connecticut Advanced Fellowship in Women’s Health.

Haskell’s research focuses on women veterans health and health care. A current research project, the Women Veteran’s Cohort Study (WVCS), is examining gender differences in medical and mental health outcomes in women and men veterans after return from deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan. The WVCS focuses on three specific areas: chronic pain and musculoskeletal health, cardiovascular disease, and mental health in returning war veterans.

CWHF shares the unique stories of influential Connecticut women, while educating the public and inspiring future generations of women and girls.
