Saltzman named 2014 Mines Medalist
W. Mark Saltzman, chair of Yale’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, has been named the 2014 Mines Medalist by the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
The award recognizes scientists and engineers who demonstrate exceptional leadership and innovation. Saltzman is widely recognized as a leading figure in biomedical engineering, drug delivery, tissue engineering, and gene therapy. He is the author of three textbooks and his work has been described in more than 250 research papers and patents.
At Yale, Saltzman is the Goizueta Foundation professor of chemical and biomedical engineering. He will receive the award Oct. 2 at a ceremony at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
