Patricia E. Kane, the Friends of American Arts Curator of American Decorative Arts at the Yale University Art Gallery, is the inaugural winner of a merit award from the Wunsch Americana Foundation.

The award recognizes outstanding dedication and contribution to the American arts. Kane will receive the award at a ceremony to be held at Sotheby’s New York on Jan. 21.

At the Yale Art Gallery, Kane oversees collections from the 17th century to the present and pursues research on early American silver and furniture. She has been project director for the Rhode Island Furniture Archive at the gallery since 2002.  This comprehensive body of research is being disseminated through a forthcoming exhibition and accompanying publication at the gallery in 2015.

The Wunsch Americana Foundation supports scholarly investigation, appreciation and preservation of early American decorative arts.
