Project ASSERT celebrates 16 years of work in substance abuse

This month, Project ASSERT, a collaborative effort between Yale School of Medicine’s Section of Emergency Medicine and Yale–New Haven Hospital celebrated its 16th anniversary. The project helps patients struggling with alcohol and other substance use disorders get treatment. Since its inception, the program has screened more than 46,700 people, and last year referred 890 patients to community-based substance abuse services. Of the 40% who went directly to a treatment facility, 92% successfully enrolled in treatment programs.
