Data-intensive social science is a key academic priority at Yale, with an emphasis on the application of empirical methods and data to public policy issues and matters of social concern.

In the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), data-intensive social science research takes place across the departments of economics, linguistics, political science, psychology, sociology, and statistics and data science, as well as in labs and research centers that span FAS departments and other Yale schools and units, including the Institution for Social and Policy Studies, the Wu Tsai Institute, the Economic Growth Center, the Tobin Center for Economic Policy, and others.

In a new video, scholars from across the FAS explain how the explosion of data in our world, along with advances in data science, is transforming research in the social sciences and helping researchers better understand human behavior.

Data-intensive social science research is supported by the Data-Intensive Social Science Center (DISSC), the Institute for Foundations of Data Science, the Yale Library, and many other Yale resources.
