Baserga, named as the William H. Fleming, M.D. Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, studies fundamental aspects of ribosome biogenesis, the nucleolus, human diseases of making ribosomes (ribosomopathies), and the impact of ribosome biogenesis on cell growth, cell division and cancer.
