Yale will salute the men and women who have served our country at a Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11 at 12:30 p.m. in Battell Chapel, corner of Elm and College streets. All are welcome.

The ceremony will feature remarks by President Peter Salovey and Vice President Kim Goff-Crews, and an address by Moses Cho ’20, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps 2010-2014 and is now a political science major in Yale College. The event is sponsored by the Office of the Secretary and Vice President for Student Life.

The Veterans Day Brass Ensemble, composed of School of Music students, will play “The Star-Spangled Banner” and military service songs, while members of the Yale Police Department will serve as honor guards.

In conjunction with the university’s year-long 50WomenAtYale150 celebration, three women will be recognized for their contribution to veterans during the ceremony.

They are:

  • Lori Rasile, director of finance at Yale School of Nursing and an Army veteran, a member of the steering committee of the Yale Veterans Network affinity group;
  • Norma Thompson, senior lecturer in the humanities, associate director of the Whitney Humanities Center, member of the national Warrior-Scholar Project Academic Board, and lecturer in Yale’s Warrior-Scholar program.
  • Patricia Wei, associate director of undergraduate admissions and director of veterans outreach in Yale College.
