Fashion correspondent to discuss business side of industry

Lauren Sherman, chief correspondent for The Business of Fashion, will present a talk on the business side of the fashion industry on Friday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. in the Trumbull Head of College House, 100 High St. The talk, which is free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by the Poynter Fellowship in Journalism and the Y Fashion House.

Sherman is a writer and editorial strategist whose work focuses on the fashion and retail industries. She also serves as the New York editor of The Business of Fashion, a daily online resource for fashion business intelligence. She co-hosts a podcast with her husband titled “The Needle and the Mouse,” which focuses on the intersections of technology and fashion.

Before joining The Business of Fashion, Sherman worked at Forbes, Fashionista, and Lucky Magazine. She has also contributed to The New York Times, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, and many other publications. She received her B.F.A. in writing, literature, and publishing from Emerson College.

The Poynter Fellowship in Journalism was established by Nelson Poynter, who received his master’s degree in 1927 from Yale. The fellowship brings to campus distinguished reporters, editors and others who have made important contributions to the media. Among recent Poynter fellows are Mark Dery, Susan Youssef, and Denise Dresser.
