Update: Due to inclement weather, including high winds, we regret to announce that the Cross Campus celebration has been cancelled. Additional celebrations are still scheduled around Yale; click here for a full schedule of events

Members of the Yale community are invited to attend the Founders Day 2019 celebration on Friday, Oct. 11. The day’s events will mark the founding of Yale 318 years ago, when the General Court of the Colony of Connecticut approved “an act for Liberty to erect a Collegiate School.” That school eventually became Yale University.

The 2019 event will include:

  • drop-in visits by Salovey across campus
  • open houses
  • tours

Admission is free. Full details about the day’s programs can be found on the Founders Day 2019 website.

Yale began its tradition of celebrating its founding in New Haven on Oct. 9, 1701 in 2014 with an event for students, faculty, and staff, and it has since been held annually on a day close to the actual anniversary.
