Community breakfast to feature preview of Devane Lecture series
Ian Shapiro, Sterling Professor of Political Science, will preview his fall course “Power and Politics in Today’s World” at a free community breakfast on Thursday, Sept. 5.
The breakfast will be held 8-9 a.m. at the Dixwell-Yale Community Learning Center, 101 Ashmun St. It is sponsored by the Office of New Haven and State Affairs, which hosts community breakfasts on the first Thursday of every month during the academic year. Free, 90-minute parking will be available in the Lock Street Garage, 55 Lock St.
The course, the latest in the DeVane Lecture series, will answer the questions: How did we get from the euphoria that followed the fall of communism in the early 1990s to our present politics of fear and resentment, and what are the prospects going forward?
The DeVane Lecture series is a free program that invites members of the New Haven and Yale communities to attend a semester-long class alongside Yale students, who can take the course for credit.
