Yale’s Marcia Johnson elected to British Academy

Marcia Johnson, Sterling Professor Emeritus of Psychology, has been elected to the Fellowship of the British Academy for the humanities and social sciences.

The British Academy is an independent organization of around 1,400 world-leading scholars and researchers. This year, the academy elected to its fellowship 76 scholars who have achieved academic distinction in various branches of the humanities and social sciences. These areas of study include business history, forensic architecture, and the philosophy of science.

Johnson’s research focuses on human memory. Some of the topics she explores include the basic “processing units” of cognition and memory, reality and source monitoring, the relationship between emotion and cognition, and changes in cognition with aging. Johnson also serves as the director of Yale’s Memory and Cognition Lab.
