‘Cairo the Incandescent’: Photos explore the City of a Thousand Minarets

In “Cairo the Incandescent,” Karen Polinger Foster, former lecturer in Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations, “explores manifestations of light throughout the city, from dawn to dusk, from the broad sweep of its radiant river to the lucent details of its works and days.”

The photo essay, which includes commentary and insights into the city’s landscape, history, and culture, is the fourth and final in a series inspired by trips to Central Asia, Iran, and Ethiopia.
