Afro-American Cultural Center hosts Class Day tea with Chimamanda Adichie
Following a Class Day speech in which she urged the Class of 2019 to work toward a better America, author and Yale alumna Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie ’08 M.A. visited the Afro-American Cultural Center for a Class Day tea.
The event was co-organized by Afro-American Cultural Center Director and Yale College Assistant Dean Risë Nelson and Lolade Siyonbola ’19 M.A. (African Studies). Siyonbola, the 2019 winner of the Outstanding Graduate & Professional Student Award for Excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Advocacy, also moderated the event. Yale African Students Association Vice President Ayodimeji Abiola offered words of thanks and presented Adichie with a gift of appreciation; Yale Director for Africa Eddie Mandhry co-hosted along with Nelson.
