Hannah Louise Lawrence

Hannah Lawrence has distinguished herself as a double major in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. Elected to Phi Beta Kappa in her junior year, Hannah graduates summa cum laude with distinction in both her majors after completing 41.5 course credits, 40.5 of which were grades of straight A. In a field that seldom changes answer keys, Hannah’s senior project adviser in Applied Mathematics states that she offered a “solution that is better than what is known for this problem.”

Hannah has balanced her extraordinary performance in the classroom with her passion for music, playing as a devoted member of the Yale Symphony Orchestra's first violin section. Hannah has also contributed her talents as a member of the Yale College Student Advisory Committee on Science and Quantitative Reasoning, advising the Yale College Dean's Office on matters related to undergraduate education.

In recognition of her commitment to academic excellence, Yale College proudly awards the Russell Henry Chittenden Prize to Hannah Louise Lawrence.
