Spring Salvage finds new homes for no-longer-needed items

The Yale Office of Sustainability, in partnership with Yale Facilities and Yale Recycling, will launch the 12th annual Spring Salvage on Wednesday, May 1. Spring Salvage is Yale’s resource recovery program that aims to reduce material waste during undergraduate moveout from the residential colleges and Old Campus. Students bring items to collection sites located throughout campus, and Spring Salvage staff transfer the items to designated Goodwill trailers. Thanks to a strong partnership with Goodwill Industries of Southern New England, Yale donated more than 50,000 pounds of items in 2018 so that they could be diverted from the trash and instead reused.

Spring Salvage 2019 will take place from May 1-May 22 in all 14 of Yale’s residential colleges, and all undergraduate students may participate. Learn more about what can and can’t be donated.
