Former Clinton aide to discuss career in politics

Patti Solis Doyle, former campaign manager to Hillary Clinton, will discuss her career in politics and public service during a campus visit as a Poynter Fellow in Journalism on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

This event, which is co-sponsored by the Yale College Democrats, will take place at 7 p.m. in Rm. 208 of William L. Harkness Hall, 100 Wall St. The talk is free and open to the public.

Solis Doyle is the president of Solis Strategies, a communications firm serving non-profits, NGOs, and corporations. She is also a CNN political contributor and a Winter Fellow at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics. After over 20 years of experience in politics, presidential campaigns, and public service, she has created a name for herself as a political organizer and campaign strategist. She is known to speak out about the rise of women and minorities in politics, particularly shedding light on issues affecting Hispanic Americans.

Solis Doyle started her career working on Richard Daley’s mayoral campaign in Chicago, and later worked at the Chicago City Hall. She joined Governor Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign, and then served as Hillary Clinton’s senior advisor for many years. In 2000, she served as chief of staff to Hillary Clinton’s first Senate campaign and then managed Senator Clinton’s political operations, PAC, and 2006 re-election campaign. She also made history as the first Hispanic woman to lead a presidential campaign when she served as Senator Clinton’s presidential bid campaign manager from 2007-2008.

The Poynter Fellowship in Journalism was established by Nelson Poynter, who received his master’s degree in 1927 from Yale. The fellowship brings to campus distinguished reporters, editors and others who have made important contributions to the media. Among recent Poynter fellows are Nancy Levinson, Daniel Kurtz-Phelan, and Lisa Margonelli.
