Memorial service for Nobel laureate Tom Steitz to take place Jan. 19
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Jan. 19 honoring the life and work of Thomas A. Steitz, Sterling Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, professor of chemistry, and one of three winners of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
The service will take place at 2 p.m. in Battell Chapel, corner of College and Elm streets. All are welcome.
Steitz, who died on Oct. 9 at age 78, was recognized by the Royal Swedish Academy in 2009 for his work describing the structure and function of the ribosome, the cellular protein-making factory essential to life.
