FAS dean announces new faculty appointments

Tamar Szabó Gendler, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, announced the following appointments:

Steven Fraade, the Mark Taper Professor of Religious Studies, as chair of the Judaic Studies program. Fraade’s term will be for one year, through June 30;

Maurice Samuels, the Betty Jane Anlyan Professor of French, as the next chair of the Judaic Studies program. His term will be for three years, effective July 1; and

Robert Nelson, the Robert Lehman Professor in the History of Art, as acting chair of the Department of the History of Art for the Spring 2019 term.
