George J. Mitchell, who served as a U.S. senator from Maine and the Senate majority leader, will join former Secretary of State John Kerry ’66 for a conversation about their diplomatic experiences and the foreign policy challenges facing America today.

Mitchell’s long and distinguished career includes his service as chairman of peace negotiations in Northern Ireland — which resulted in an agreement that ended an historic conflict — as well as U.S. special envoy to the Middle East. In 2008, Time Magazine described him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Mitchell is the author of five books, most recently a memoir entitled “The Negotiator: Reflections on an American Life,” and “A Path To Peace.”

The talk, which is free and open to the general public, is sponsored by the Kerry Initiative at Yale University, an interdisciplinary program that tackles pressing global challenges through teaching, research, and international dialogue. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required; click here to RSVP
