The Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History is preparing to undergo a comprehensive renovation. In preparation for that transformation, the museum will hold several online auctions of items it can no longer use.

The auctions are online only and will feature many items suitable for businesses, schools, organizations, and individuals. Each auction will have a different focus. Museum officials said they hope that many of the items leaving the Peabody will find new homes among students, faculty, staff, and others in the Yale community.

The first of these auctions is now live. Items include professional display casing and shelving, furniture, antiques, filing cabinets, folding chairs and a life-size Neanderthal model. Bids can be placed through Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. when the auction closes. Bidding for every item starts at $1. .

All items are located at 344 Winchester Ave., New Haven, CT 06511. Winning bidders must pick up their items on Friday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
