Finance experts Andrew Metrick and Janet Yellen to talk economics
Yale finance scholar Andrew Metrick ’89 and Janet Yellen ’71 Ph.D., former chair of the Federal Reserve, will have a conversation about economics 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26 at the Yale School of Management’s Edward P. Evans Hall, 165 Whitney Ave.
The event is open to the Yale community; advanced registration is required. Click here to register.
Earlier this year, Metrick was named the inaugural Janet L. Yellen Professor of Finance and Management. The chair was established through a gift from Charles D. Ellis ’59, who served on the Yale Corporation with Yellen, in honor of her economic acumen and inspiring leadership.
Metrick, an expert on the causes and consequences of financial crises, is founder and director of the Yale Program on Financial Stability, which aims to bridge the gap between academic research on the subject and the regulators and policymakers who need to act to prevent or mitigate the next financial crisis.
Yellen was appointed chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserves by President Barack Obama in 2014. She was the first woman to serve in that role, often called the top economic policy position in the United States. Yellen has moved between academia and influential economic policy roles throughout her career.
