Paintings by Robert Bienstock, attorney in the Yale University Office of the General Counsel, are on view at Westville’s Kehler Liddell Gallery from May 31 to July 1.

Bienstock has named the portfolio of work “Fun with Lines,” after the bold, geometric patterns that tie the pieces together thematically. In his artist’s statement for the show, he writes: “I use near-parallel lines to explore theoretical spaces — spatial, mathematical, emotional, and philosophical. I lay them down with paint and ink, pen and brush, on monotype or painted backgrounds. My lines explore concepts such as the intersection of order and disorder, and relationships between independently coherent spaces.”

An opening reception for the exhibition will be held at the Kehler Liddell Gallery, 873 Whalley Ave., on Saturday, June 9, 3-6 p.m., with an artist talk by Bienstock at 2:30 p.m. Additional work by Bienstock, from this exhibition and previous exhibitions, can be found online at his artist’s website.
