Mind Matters, an undergraduate mental health awareness and advocacy organization, will host Fresh Check Day noon-3 p.m. on Friday, April 20 on Cross Campus. The event aims to promote mental health and suicide prevention.

Fresh Check Day will be a fair-like event that includes peer-run interactive expo booths on a range of topics from substance abuse to suicide prevention, as well as free food by New Haven vendors, music, and prizes. The object, say the organizers, is to engage students in discussion about their mental health and suicide prevention in an approachable manner. In addition to the student groups, there will be representatives from outside groups, such as the Jordan Porco Foundation, a suicide prevention organization that created the Fresh Check Day program.

The event has received funding from the Yale College Dean’s Office, the Yale Department of Psychiatry, Connecticut Mental Health Center, and the Mental Health and Counseling department at Yale Health.
