CNN’s Brian Stelter to speak on ‘Reliable Sources in an Era of Misinformation’

Brian Stelter, host of “Reliable Sources” and CNN’s senior media correspondent, will speak at Yale about reporting in “an era of misinformation” on Wednesday, March 28. His talk is sponsored by the Poynter Fellowship in Journalism.

Titled “Reliable Sources in an Era of Misinformation,” Stelter’s talk will take place at 2 p.m. in Rm. 250 of the Loria Center, 190 York St.  The talk is free and open to the public.

Stelter hosts CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” which examines the week’s top media stories every Sunday at 11 a.m. ET. He reports for CNN Media and also writes a nightly e-newsletter. He began his career as a media reporter in 2007 working at The New York Times, where he covered television and digital media for the paper’s Business Day and Arts sections. He joined CNN in 2013.

While he was in college, Stelter created TV Newser, a blog that covered the TV news industry. He sold it to Mediabistro.com after his first year, but he continued to write for the blog until he joined The New York Times.

The Poynter Fellowship in Journalism was established by Nelson Poynter, who received his master’s degree in 1927 from Yale. The fellowship brings to campus journalists from a wide variety of outlets who have made significant contributions to their field. Among recent Poynter fellows are Ali Velshi, Susan Glasser, and Ezra Edelman.
