Jordan Cozby, a junior at Branford College, has been named a member of the 2018 class of Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows.

The fellowship is a fully funded, six-week summer institute for rising college juniors. From May 26 to July 6, 16 fellows will immerse themselves in a leadership program “inspired by George Washington and today’s foremost leaders.” While living and learning at the Mount Vernon estate, the students will engage in a leadership education curriculum and interact with senior government, military, corporate, and non-profit leaders. Fellows will also design capstone projects centered around an issue they are passionate about on their campus or in their community. In conjunction with their projects, fellows are matched with mentors to help support and guide them in their efforts. Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows will also study George Washington’s character, inspirational leadership, and vision.

Cozby is pursuing a double major in economics and history. He first got involved in politics as a fellow with President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. Since then, he served as the national chairman of the High School Democrats of America and on the Hillary for Alabama Leadership Council. He is the elections coordinator for the Yale College Democrats, a tutor with New Haven Reads, and is involved with the Yale Undergraduate Legal Aid Association. Additionally, he is currently working for the Association of Yale Alumni and interning for Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.
