Jordan Pober receives achievement award for basic science research

Dr. Jordan Pober has been selected as the 2018 recipient of the Basic Science Established Investigator Award from the American Society of Transplantation (AST).

An organization of professionals dedicated to advancing the field of transplantation, AST sponsors awards in recognition of members’ achievements and contributions to the field. Recipients of the Basic Science Investigator Award are senior scientists who have made significant contributions to the field and are recognized experts in transplantation.

Pober is the Bayer Professor of Translational Medicine and is Professor of Immunobiology, Pathology, and Dermatology at Yale School of Medicine. He also serves as director of the Human and Translational Immunology Program. His research involves understanding the functions of vascular cells in inflammatory and immune responses, and how inflammation and immunity affect vascular health and function. He is particularly interested in how insights from experiments with human cells and tissues and with humanized mice can be used to improve organ replacement therapy, to improve tissue engineering, and to regenerate injured tissues.

He will receive the award at the American Transplant Congress in Seattle in June.
