Sarah Nuttall, professor of literature and cultural studies and director of Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research (WiSER) in Johannesburg, South Africa, will deliver a talk titled “The Redistributed University: Art, Politics, and Critique Here and Now” at the Whitney Humanities Center (WHC) on Monday, March 26. The lecture will take place at 5 p.m. in Rm. 208, WHC, 53 Wall St. It is free and open to the public.
Nuttall is the author of “Entanglement: Literary and Cultural Reflections on Postapartheid,” editor of “Beautiful/Ugly: African and Diaspora Aesthetics,” and coeditor of many books, including “Johannesburg: The Elusive Metropolis” and “Loadshedding: Writing On and Over the Edge of South Africa.” For five years she has directed WiSER, which is regarded as the largest and most established humanities institute across the global south. In 2016 she was an Oppenheimer Fellow at the DuBois Institute at Harvard University.
