Pediatric and Adult Cystic Fibrosis Programs Selected for Quality Care Award

January 18, 2018

Yale's pediatric and adult cystic fibrosis (CF) programs have been selected as 2017 recipients of the annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Quality Care Award: Recognizing Outstanding QI Processes and Accomplishments. The programs are led by Marie E. Egan, MD, professor of pediatrics (respiratory) and of cellular and molecular physiology, and Jonathan Koff, MD, associate professor, respectively.

The award is given for sustained quality improvement work that improves patient outcomes. Performance standards used to identify awardees include establishment of a QI team that uses formal QI methods and tools, the use of clinical outcomes data to identify opportunities for improvement, involving patients and families in improvement efforts, measurable improvement in clinical outcomes, and the use of innovative care strategies.

The Quality Care Award was established in 2008 to recognize the commitment and accomplishments of CF programs to improve care for CF patients. Awards will be presented at the 32nd annual North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference in October.
