Alumni to discuss their careers in dance

Michael Apuzzo ’05, Sidra Bell ’01, Emily Coates ’06, and Brian Seibert ’97 will discuss their diverse career paths in the dance world on Monday, Jan. 22.

Four Yale alumni — Michael Apuzzo ’05, Sidra Bell ’01, Emily Coates ’06, and Brian Seibert ’97 — will discuss their diverse career paths in the dance world on Monday, Jan. 22, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Center for Collaborative Arts & Media, 149 York St.

The discussion, titled “Yale Alumni in Dance,” will be moderated by Margaret Spillane, a lecturer in the Department of English.

Apuzzo has been a member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company since 2008. Bell is a choreographer and teacher who serves as artistic director of Sidra Bell New York and is currently a master lecturer at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Coates is a former dancer with the New York City Ballet who now directs the Yale Dance Studies curriculum and is an assistant professor adjunct of theater studies and assistant professor adjunct of directing at Yale School of Drama. Seibert, a lecturer in theater studies at Yale, is a dance critic and features writer for The New York Times. He is the author of the award-wining “What the Eye Hears: A History of Tap Dancing.”

The panel discussion is presented by Yale Dance Theater, the Alliance for Dance at Yale, Yale Theater Studies, and the Office of Career Strategies. A second panel discussion is planned for the spring.
