Yale performing arts students to feature in Orchestra New England concert
Orchestra New England, in 18th-century finery, performing at last year’s “Colonial Concert.”
Yale students Zachary Johnson and Danielle Chaves will add their vocal and acting talent, respectively, to Orchestra New England’s annual “Colonial Concert” on Saturday, Nov. 25.
The orchestra’s 38th “Concert of Mufick,” performed in the style of the 1700s, will begin at 8 p.m. at the United Church on the Green, 270 Temple St. The 2nd Company Governor’s Foot Guard will open the festivities, and the orchestra and soloists will be attired fully in 18th-century finery. Audience members are invited to celebrate with the performers at a complimentary reception after the concert.
The program will include a symphony by Joseph Haydn, a piano concerto by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and songs by Jean-Paul-Egide Martini. Baritone Zachary Johnson, an M.M.A. student at the School of Music, and actress Danielle Chaves, an M.F.A candidate from the School of Drama, will be joined by organist Walden Moore from Trinity Church as featured performers.
Admission is $35 for reserved seating; $20 for general admission; and $5 student rush tickets at the door. A festive dinner will take place before the concert at 6 p.m. in the Graduate Club, 155 Elm Street; tickets are $45 per person.
