Historian Paul Kennedy to deliver lecture at Knights of Columbus Museum

Paul Kennedy, the J. Richardson Dilworth Professor of History, will discuss “The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers” at the Knights of Columbus Museum at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.

The lecture is one in a series designed to complement the exhibition, “World War I: Beyond the Front Lines,” currently on display at the museum. The exhibition will be on view through Dec. 30, 2018.

Kennedy is director of International Security Studies and a distinguished fellow of the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy. He is internationally known for his writings and commentaries on global political, economic, and strategic issues. A native of England, Kennedy earned his D.Phil. degree at the University of Oxford. He is the author or editor of 19 books, including “The Rise of the Anglo-German Antagonism,” “The War Plans of the Great Powers,” “The Realities Behind Diplomacy,” and “Preparing for the Twenty-First Century.” His best-known work is “The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers,” which has been translated into more than 20 languages.

Established in 1982, the Knights of Columbus Museum Inc. is a nonprofit institution serving the educational interests of the general public. The museum, located at 1 State St. in New Haven, also serves as the archive and repository for documents and artifacts pertaining to the Knights of Columbus’ foundation, history, and activities.

 The museum features exhibitions of art and history. It also maintains a permanent gallery of the organization’s past accomplishments, as well as one dedicated to its founder Father Michael J.
