Yale Police Department SWAT team to hold blood drive

The Yale University Police (YPD) SWAT team will host an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 21.

The Yale University Police (YPD) SWAT team will host an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 21.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at YPD Headquarters, 101 Ashmun St., in the rear of the building, where the American Red Cross will station one of its Save-A-Life buses.

All members of the Yale and New Haven communities are encouraged to participate in the drive. To donate blood in the State of Connecticut individuals must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in overall good health. For more information on donor eligibility, visit the Red Cross website or call 800-733-2767. Individuals may schedule an appointment online, using sponsor code YPD, or by telephone at 800-RED CROSS (733-2767).

The YPD SWAT Team hopes to collect 35 units of blood, which equates to at least 45 donors. Participants may park in the Yale Health garage, located at 55 Lock St. SWAT team members will actively recruit donors and assist on the day of the drive by greeting and registering attendees.
