‘Our Future in the Cosmos’ is focus of next Science in the News talks

How close humans really are to “boldly going where no one has gone before” is the focus of the next Science in the News presentation, “Our Future in the Cosmos: Living Beyond Earth.”

The Science in the News series is presented by Yale Science Diplomats, a graduate student group that aims to foster a scientifically informed electorate, train scientists on effective communication, and encourage participation and involvement in science policy and the political process.

Three Yale scientists will discuss the reality of space travel and colonizing planets, looking as such questions as: How do we find planets outside of our solar system? If we found a planet that could be our new home, what technology would we need to make the journey? And once we reached the planet, what would it take to live there?

“Our Future in the Cosmos” will be presented three times:

• 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, New Haven Free Public Library, 133 Elm St.
• 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Ave.
• 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 15th, Guilford Free Library, 67 Park St.

The presentations are free and open to the public.
