In November, hundreds of chili and chowder lovers poured into Yale Commons at the Schwarzman Center for Yale Hospitality’s annual cook-off to raise funds for United Way of Greater New Haven’s programs to benefit local children and families.

On Jan. 13, United Way supporters from Yale presented a check for the monies raised from the Chili & Chowder Cook-Off — for $12,783 — to United Way officials.

“The money raised at special events like this helps United Way change what’s possible for children and families in Greater New Haven through our work in education, financial stability, and health,” said Jennifer Heath, president and CEO of United Way of Greater New Haven.

“We are grateful for the hundreds of attendees and celebrity judges who helped us pick our winners,” said Robert Sullivan, director of Yale Dining Operations. “We also want to thank our event media partner, NBC Connecticut, for helping us spread the word, making this most recent Chili & Chowder Cook-Off such a huge success.”
