See Yale Cabaret’s STYX SONGS. On the river that flows between life and death, the gathered spirits rage against the dying of the light; they offer their hopes and dreams, loves and losses, lies and ambitions. Drawn from a selection of texts that span 2,000 years and four continents, “Styx Songs” is a collaboration between the Schools of Music, Art, Architecture, and Drama. Yale Cabaret, 217 Park St. Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Bring the family to watch the first Yale football game of the season as the Yale Bulldogs host the Colgate Raiders. The game also airs live on One World Sports TV, the Ivy League Digital Network, and ESPN Radio (AM 1300). Yale Bowl, 81 Central Ave. Kick-off at 1:30 p.m.

See the film The Bounty — a historical drama that tells the story of the most famous mutiny in the history of the sea, with Captain Bligh’s cruelty leading to chaos on his ship. The film is being shown in conjunction with the exhibit “Spreading Canvas: Eighteenth-Century British Marine Painting.” Free. Yale Center for British Art, 1080 Chapel St. 2 p.m.

Hold onto your seat at a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo — “one of the greatest films ever made” according to a Sight & Sound poll. James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Barbara Bel Geddes star in the opening film of the Treasures from the Yale Film Archive season. Free. Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St. 4 p.m.

Browse The AIDS Suite, HIV Positive Women in Prison and other works by artist/activist Sue Coe. This exhibit introduces seven large drawings by Sue Coe based upon the patients and medical practice of pioneering art activist Dr. Eric Avery at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Tour the Spreading Canvas: Eighteenth-Century British Marine Painting exhibition. The works on display reflect Britain’s absolute dependence on the sea, from ship launches to shipwrecks, naval battles to serene coastal views. Free.
