Three former Yale men’s tennis captains, who also happen to be brothers, will demonstrate their soon-to-be-launched online sports education platform, known as Rhabit, during the Connecticut Open women’s tennis tournament, Aug. 19–27.

Rhabit is a joint venture of Jeff, Connor, and Kyle Dawson, members of the Yale College Classes of 2009, 2010, and 2014, respectively. The brothers describe themselves as “former college athletes, professional athletes, and coaches who love to coach and help others reach their goals” who bring “tech, finance, science, coding, design, coaching, and production backgrounds” to their new enterprise.

The Rhabit platform features instruction and perspectives from the world’s top coaches and players, designed to help you “to become the most informed ‘student of the game.’”

“[W]e believe in the power of perspective,” say the brothers. “Perspective coming from the best, so that you may better mold your unique self from a wealth of information. You are unique, and the only way to foster and build natural habit (habit that feels right and good) is by taking bits and pieces from the many you identify with, and repeating — the right way. … Reaching the next level requires constant review, repetition, and analysis. We provide the tools and environment enabling you to reach new levels. You provide the sweat equity.”

Party, discounts for Yale community

Yale University is hosting an opening night ceremony for the Connecticut Open on Monday, Aug. 22 as well as a pre-ceremony courtside party for Yale community members. Special discounts are also available for students, staff, and faculty throughout the tournament. Learn more.

Each of the Dawson brothers played on the Yale men’s tennis varsity team, and went on to become team captain: Jeff in 2008-2009, Connor in 2009-2010, and Kyle in 2013-2014.

“We credit our coaches, teammates, and the greater Yale community for making such a positive impact in our lives,” the brothers write. “The greatest gift Yale provided us was opening doors and our minds to such incredible perspective from motivated and diverse individuals. It is this same gift we wish to create and make accessible to all corners of the world, but with one caveat — a focus on sports.”

Tournament director Anne Worcester notes that “Rhabit is a brand new sponsor of the Connecticut Open and the first-ever online tennis instructional platform to be a partner of the event. Jeff and Connor will be on hand educating and engaging consumers all week from a Rhabit-branded booth on the tournament grounds.”

A number of free subscriptions, shirts, hats will be given out at the Rhabit booth during the tournament.

The Connecticut Open presented by United Technologies, a WTA premier event, will take place Aug. 19–27 at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale, located on Derby Ave. For more information, visit the Connecticut Open website.
