Poynter Fellow Deborah Solomon to explore ‘Does Art Criticism Matter?’

Deborah Solomon, a New York City-based author, art critic, and journalist, will speak at Yale on Thursday, Nov. 12 as a Poynter Fellow in Journalism. “Does Art Criticism Matter?" will take place at 4 p.m. in the Pierson College master’s house, 231 Park St. The event is free and open to the public.

Deborah Solomon, a New York City-based author, art critic, and journalist, will speak at Yale on Thursday, Nov. 12 as a Poynter Fellow in Journalism.

“Does Art Criticism Matter?” will take place at 4 p.m. in the Pierson College master’s house, 231 Park St. The event is free and open to the public.

Nationally acclaimed for her work as a writer across genres, Solomon has authored several books, including “American Mirror: The Life and Art of Norman Rockwell.” As a journalist, she has written for The New York Times, served as an art critic for The Wall Street Journal, and contributed writing to ArtForum, The New Criterion, and many other publications. Currently, she is the resident art critic for WNYC, the New York City affiliate for the National Public Radio.

The Poynter Fellowship in Journalism was established by Nelson Poynter, who received his master’s degree in 1927 from Yale. The fellowship brings to campus journalists from a wide variety of media outlets who have made significant contributions to their field. Among recent Poynter fellows are Louise Story, Kamel Daoud, and Susan Dominus.
