800 years of justice: the Magna Carta at Yale

Eight hundred years ago on June 15, King John of England met with a band of rebellious barons at Runnymede, a meadow on the Thames River near London. There the embattled king grudgingly consented to a list of the barons’ demands. This agreement resulted in the Magna Carta, or Great Charter.
