A new campus-wide event, Inspiring Yale, will launch on Thursday, April 16 to showcase the work of various thought leaders from all of Yale’s 13 graduate and professional schools. Conceived and organized by Yale Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS), the event aims to celebrate the discoveries and accomplishments that happen across campus, bring the community closer together, and foster further interdisciplinary collaboration.

Tickets for the event have sold out, but videos of the presentations will be posted online afterward.

According to the organizers, “Yale is an amazing institution, filled with interesting and stimulating ideas. Our peers and teachers are world-class researchers, performers, writers, and creators. Yale not only offers the broadest range of academic and professional disciplines than any other university, it also values cross-pollination and collaboration.” They note, though, “too often, busy schedules and academic commitments make it difficult to find the time to connect across such disciplines.”

The upcoming event has been planned to bring faculty and students from throughout the university together. It will feature faculty members chosen through student nomination and voting organized earlier this year by the GPSS, who will each give a short presentations in an evening symposium.

Inspiring Yalerecognizes that creativity and innovation often spring from exchanging ideas,” note the organizers. “We hope to foster interdisciplinary and interpersonal connections within the community as a critical component of the event. We will be incorporating multiple ways for G&P and Yale College students to connect to each other, alumni, faculty, and other mentors. A mentoring reception and networking intermission will allow attendees even more opportunities for connection.  It is our hope that Inspiring Yalewill be a cornerstone event for the Yale community, promoting campus unity and helping to fuel the tradition of interdisciplinary excellence at Yale.”
