See the world premiere of War, a play by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. According to the producers, “’War’ is a wildly provocative, bracingly funny, and all-too-human portrait of a family navigating the landmines of the past as they try to broker peace with each other — and themselves — in the present.” Yale Repertory Theatre, 1156 Chapel St. Friday, 8 p.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Browse the holiday window displays of The Shops at Yale. The fanciful creations, created using paper and glue, were designed by students and faculty from Paier College of Art and will be unveiled on Saturday at more than 10 businesses between 976 and 1144 Chapel St. 10 a.m.–9 p.m.

Take an interactive Highlights Tour and learn about Yale University Art Gallery’s history, architecture, and encyclopedic collection. The tour will focus on a handful of objects chosen to showcase both the permanent collection and special exhibitions currently on view. See the exhibition Sculpture Victorious: Art in an Age of Invention, 1837-1901 — your last chance before it closes on Sunday. The first of its kind ever undertaken by a museum, the exhibition examines the production and reception of sculpture in Britain and its empire during the reign of Queen Victoria. Free. Look closely at the lives of some of the smallest creatures on our planet. The exhibit Farmers, Warriors, Builders: The Hidden Life of Ants features the photography of Mark Moffett and highlights the lives of ants — hunting, communicating, dealing with disease, and agriculture — and chronicles the work of entomologists in the field today. The exhibition features hands-on displays, including oversized ant models, and a window into live ant colonies.
