Johannes Hörner appointed the Alfred Cowles Professor of Economics
Johannes Hörner, newly appointed as the Alfred Cowles Professor of Economics, focuses his research on repeated games, dynamic games, and auctions.
After receiving a M.Sc. from HEC (France) and a M.A from DELTA (France), Hörner attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he was awarded a Ph.D. in economics. He has held faculty positions at the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) and the HEC School of Management. He came to Yale in 2007 as a visiting associate professor and was appointed professor of economics in 2008.
Hörner has contributed numerous articles and chapters to edited volumes and journals on topics such as biased social learning; reputation and competition; and specialized careers. He is associate editor of Econometrica and the Journal of Economic Theory, and co-editor of Economic Theory and Theoretical Economics. His honors include the William Polk Carey Prize and a National Science Foundation grant.
