Science plays an important role in exhibitions in the form of conservation work. Mark Aronson, chief conservator at the Yale Center for British Art, and his team worked with curators for the center’s show “Figures of Empire: Slavery and Portraiture in Eighteenth-Century Atlantic Britain” to restore damaged works.
