Flights of Fancy: a winter warm-up with wine tasting, shopping

Flights of Fancy, an evening of wine tasting and shopping in downtown New Haven, will return Thursday, Jan. 30, 4–8 p.m.

The event features in-store wine tastings, special discounts, and giveaways at over 25 downtown shops. It is sponsored by The Wine Thief and The Study at Yale Hotel, and presented by The Shops at Yale.

Those attending can check in 4–7 p.m. at The Study at Yale Hotel (1157 Chapel St.) Participation is $20 and includes a Flights of Fancy wine glass, a map of participating shops, entry into the grand prize drawing, validated parking, and coffee and dessert. Those who bring their wine glass from a previous Flights of Fancy event will receive $5 off of the admission fee.

Once registered, participants sample fine wines provided by The Wine Thief (181 Crown St.) and receive 20% off their favorite item at participating stores in the Broadway and Chapel shopping districts. (Discounts may vary, and exclusions may apply.)

In addition, live music will be played throughout the evening in The Study at Yale Hotel.
