“Africa 360: a panoramic perspective of the continent” is the theme of this year’s Africa Week, Nov. 11–17, sponsored by the Yale African Students Association (YASA).
The entirely student-run program is aimed at raising awareness of topical issues affecting the continent as well as celebrating African culture.
The “Africa 360” theme “arose from our observation that discussions about Africa on campus are nearly always limited to security concerns and economic development,” say the organizers. “Whilst these issues are obviously extremely important we wanted to stress the wealth and breadth of other disciplines and fields in which Africans are making significant and innovative contributions to the continent.”
The week includes talks, film screenings, and a cultural show. For more information, visit YASA’s Facebook page.
