There is still time for Yale faculty, staff, and students to purchase tickets for the New Haven Open at Yale at a significantly discounted rate.

University affiliates receive 25% off of tickets for all sessions from Sunday-Saturday, Aug. 18-24. The tennis tournament — which takes place Aug. 16-24 at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale — features one of the strongest player fields in the history of the event, according to Anne Worcester, tournament director.

This year’s players include Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli and Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki; 2011 Wimbledon champion — and defending New Haven Open champion — Petra Kvitova; Britain’s top player Laura Robson; 2012 French Open finalist Sara Errani; and four-time New Haven Open champion Caroline Wozniacki. All told, five of the top 10 players in the world will compete in the event, as well as six other top-25 players.

This year, fans will be closer to the fast-paced action of the tournament, as all seating will be in the box ring of the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale. The event will also feature more in-stadium entertainment.

Discounted tickets for Yale affiliates can be purchased online or by phone. To receive the exclusive discount online, visit the tournament’s ticket website and enter promotion code NHO13YALE. To purchase tickets by phone, call 855-464-8366 and reference “Yale University.”

The New Haven Open at Yale is presented by First Niagara and is a World Tennis Association event that is part of the Emirates Airline U.S. Open Series. Yale is a cornerstone sponsor of the event.
