Dance, photography, and physics: Discovering the Higgs Boson

A Yale particle physicist and choreographer have developed a workshop that uses dance and photography to help students understand the Higgs Boson particle.

Reintegrate — a joint project by Yale particle physicist Sarah Demers and dancer/choreographer/researcher Emily Coates — aims to translate the details of the discovery of the Higgs Boson particle in visual ways through interactive workshops using the artistic mediums of dance and photography — disciplines that weigh heavily toward the non-verbal articulation of ideas.

Recently they presented their workshop to students in the Yale summer SCHOLAR program, which brings 100 high school students from New Haven and West Haven public schools to live and study science for two weeks on Yale campus.
