‘No Boundaries” production promises to be a ‘comic and fantastical adventure’

“No Boundaries: A Series of Global Performances” kicks off its sixth season with a production of “Super Night Shot” by Gob Squad.

Described by the organizers as “a set of comic and fantastical adventures that celebrate unexpected encounters with strangers,” “Super Night Shot” begins one hour before the audience arrives when four performers take to New Haven’s streets equipped with video cameras. They return to the theater, and the footage is mixed live into a film. “Anything can happen — and usually does,” note the organizers.

“Super Night Shot” will be staged Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1 and 2, at 8 p.m. at the University Theatre, 222 York St. Talk Back question-and-answer sessions with members of the company will follow each performance.

Presented by Yale Repertory Theatre, the “No Boundaries” series celebrates diversity by featuring innovative performances by artists from around the world.

Gob Squad is an internationally acclaimed arts collective from the United Kingdom and Germany. Since 1994, the company’s seven members have been devising, directing, and performing pieces around the globe. In their work, they search for new ways to combine media and performance — producing stage shows, video installations, radio plays, and interactive live film. Over 200 productions of “Super Night Shot” have been created since it premiered in 2003.

Tickets for “Super Night Shot” are $25 ($10 for students, and $20 for Yale faculty and staff) and can be purchased online, by phone 203-432-1234, and in person at the Yale Rep box office, 1120 Chapel St.
