Harold Pinter’s literary legacy to be explored in performance
Acclaimed British actor Julian Sands will perform in “A Celebration of Harold Pinter” on Thursday, Sept. 27.
The performance will take place at 6 p.m. at the Yale Center for British Art, located at 1080 Chapel St. Admission is free, but registration is required. Call 203-627-2001 or e-mail ycba.programs@yale.edu.
Using personal anecdotes and reflections drawn from their work together, Sands combines Pinter’s poems and political prose to offer insight into the Nobel laureate’s literary legacy. Directed by John Malkovich, the performance of readings of some of Pinter’s most intimate work offers observations into his creative process, note the organizers.
In a brief talkback following the performance, Sands will be joined by Margaret Spillane, lecturer in English at Yale and a contributor to The Nation, in a discussion of theater and the visual arts.
On Tuesday, Sept. 25, a screening of one of Sands’ best-known films, “A Room With A View,” will take place at 7 p.m. at the Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St. A discussion with Sands will follow.
