15 Yale faculty honored by Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering

Fifteen Yale faculty members have been elected to the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of science.

Fifteen Yale faculty members have been elected to the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of science. To be elected to the academy, scientists and engineers must achieve distinction through original contributions in theoretical or applied science, or engineering.

The newly elected members will be among 39 new inductees introduced at the academy’s 37th annual meeting and dinner on May 31 at the University of Connecticut’s Rome Ballroom in Storrs.

The newly elected members are:

Susan J. Baserga, professor of molecular biophysics and biochemistry, genetics, and therapeutic radiology, Yale School of Medicine (YSM)

Linda K. Bockenstedt, the Harold W. Jockers Professor of Internal Medicine/Rheumatology; and director of the Office of Faculty Development and Equity, YSM

Sharon W. Cui, senior research scientist, Yale School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS)

Pietro De Camilli, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Cell Biology; Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator; founding director of the Yale Program for Cellular Neuroscience, Neurodegeneration, and Repair; professor of neurobiology; and a member of the Kavli Institute of Neuroscience at Yale

Ronald S. Duman, the Elizabeth Mears and House Jameson Professor of Psychiatry, and  professor of pharmacology and neurobiology, YSM; director of the Abraham Ribicoff Research Facilities, Connecticut Mental Health Center

Bonnie T. Fleming, the Horace D. Taft Associate Professor of Physics

Jung Han, professor and chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering

Jo Handelsman, the Frederick Phineas Rose Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology; and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute professor

Kevan C. Herold, professor of immunobiology and internal medicine (endocrinology), YSM
