The Elizabethan Club of Yale University and Its Library

Portrait of Elizabeth I from “The Elizabethan Club of Yale University and Its Library.”

Stephen Parks, curator (retired) of the Osborn Collection at the Beinecke Library

(Yale University Press)

The first edition of this work was published in 1986 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Elizabethan Club. This second, greatly enlarged edition is being published in celebration of the club’s centenary.

This work includes full descriptions of the rare books in the Elizabethan Club’s collection, including the nearly 60 new acquisitions of the past quarter-century, and for the first time a listing of manuscripts and objects. Full-color photographs by Richard Cheek display the club’s rooms and garden, and nearly all its rare books, manuscripts, and objects.
